Guest lecture with Mr. Gilang Maulana Majid, P.hD (Cand.) from University of Surrey
Undergraduate Program of NOn-Formal Education, Faculty of Education, UNESA held a virtual guest lecture entitled How English Improves Career and Public Relations. By presenting a speaker from the University of Surrey, United Kingdom, namely Gilang Maulana Majid, PhD (Cand.), students are emphasized to have effort in developing themselves in any field, especially skills in mastering English. Given the changes and transformations that are currently occurring are very complex, so UPNFE students must later become competitive graduates.
Guest Lecture or guest lecture was attended by 65 PLS students class of 2022, an academic activity of Professional English courses in the UPNFE Unesa undergraduate program in collaboration with the University of Surrey, England. Guided by PLS lecturer Desika Putri Mardiani, M.Pd and moderated by student Kezia Syafa Zahrani, Gilang conveyed his inspiring story of having studied up to the S3 level in England with a scholarship thanks to his good command of English. He also conducts various projects in the field of research in various countries, and is currently developing an educational program, namely Rumah Pemimpin Indonesia Ngawi Foundation (RPIN Foundation) and also establishing an English course program (VF Media and Communication). RPIN Foundation aims to help the youth of Ngawi (his hometown) prepare the best study and career plans. While VF Media and Communication aims to prepare students' English skills to get the highest IELTS score.
In the past, he felt that his English skills were not good enough, but because of his big dream to achieve success, it moved him to keep trying to get what he dreamed of. From the implementation of this guest lecture, the students were very enthusiastic in participating in this activity. Students actively asked for tips on how to get scholarships, how to study effectively, and tips on how to maintain motivation to stay on track. That way, students have gotten a clear picture of self-development management that is useful for their future.
